ASSOCIATE TRAINER: APPRENTICESHIP AVAILABLE
Ever wanted to be a dog trainer? Now's your chance!
A position is available for a new apprentice trainer. This apprenticeship is designed to place you directly into our available Associate Trainer position. Associate Trainers handle all classes except the course for aggressive dogs.
Requirements
This position is available to anyone who already has at least one year of hands-on experience with dogs as a trainer, walker, vet-tech, or other dog related job. Applicants should have above average communications skills and ideally some people-training or customer service background as well.
Extensive Training While Apprenticing
This is an unpaid apprenticeship while training. However, there is no cash outlay required for the training courses that the apprentice receives. The training that the successful candidate will receive is the equivalent of the on-leash basic course, the off-leash advanced course and level one and two trainer's courses.
Time of Training
The apprenticeship is a demanding learning schedule (please see the "courses" pages for more detail on the curriculum of each course). It may be accomplished at your own speed provided you complete the training in 6 months. Apprenticeship candidates must commit to at least Saturday's classes and may choose one to two other days per week to apprentice.
Transition to Associate Trainer
Upon completion of the apprenticeship program the apprentice will immediately be promoted to associate trainer. The associate trainer will have the capability to teach private and group lessons in puppy starter, basic on-leash and advanced off-leash classes but will not be qualified to teach lessons for the dogs with aggression problems training course.
Pay for Associate Trainers
Associate trainers are paid by the lesson. These lessons are 30-45 minutes and pay for each lesson is $25.00. Typically a trainer will do 6 - 10 lessons per day.
